Tens of Thousands Protest in U.S. Capital

Yesterday I heard truth from a guy called Dugger
who spoke on an amazing program from
alternativeradio.org . Check out their cassette tapes! It was so refreshing to hear something on the radio that sounded true for a change.

More on spyware:
PC invasion has become the hidden cost of free software such as Kazaa and Audiogalaxy, programs that allow people to share digital music and other files online. Instead of charging consumers, or giving away software like music-swapping service Napster did before it was shut down, software developers are giving advertisers direct access to people's computers

Here's a cool thing. You can ask a question and tell what you'd pay for the answer and someone will answer it for the money. Or if you know something about something, you can be an expert and answer questions for money too.

Postering Public Space: Can DIY Poster Pirates Reclaim Your Downtown?

"When evil men plot, good men must plan. When evil men burn and bomb, good men must build and bind. When evil men shout ugly words of hatred, good men must commit themselves to the glories of love. Where evil men would seek to perpetuate an unjust status quo, good men must seek to bring into a being a real order of justice." -Dr. Martin Luther King

Everyone and their brother has been into model trains for awhile now, but this NYC transit setup is one of the best I've seen. I guess I'd prefer an mid to late 70's kit, complete with Blade and Comet top to bottoms. Too bad there's some LA graf thrown in.

Enjoy the flix:

Cleaning caps
The way to clean caps is to hold the can upside down and press the cap, letting pressurized propellent do the job. NEVER put a cap in your mouth in an attempt to clear them, because that allows toxins to be absorbed by your lips (a vulnerable spot) and you can't blow hard enough to do anything good for the cap anyway. Tell everyone to quit it. There are much more interesting ways to absorb toxins, if that's what you're into. Some people report that soaking partly clogged caps in acetone (fingernail polish remover) sometimes helps if you do it before the paint is completely dry.

Write some text

LiveJournal.com lets you share your words with the world. Free, easy, and you can share one with your friends.

Read some too

Robert A. Heinlein said that "a human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects."

He said a lot more things you might find interesting too. Check out one of his books. Stranger in a Strange Land and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress are two of his best I think. Time Enough For Love is a joy too. Start with those. Even if you usually don't like reading books, you'll like these I bet. They call it science fiction, but SF is the literature of new and sometimes dangerous ideas. RH had a bunch of them.

News

AlterNet.org always has news worth reading.

The first member of the United States Congress to openly repudiate President Bush's war rationale. Bravery at its finest when you consider the feds are making home visits for a lot less. Let's hope Tony Blair's home visit with Bush heads off a Middle East conflagration.

Sc13nt0l0g1sts got their biggest anti- site nuked on Google over some copyright b.s. They really don't want you to see it and decide for yourself. Exercise your ability to read it while it's still possible.

Columbia Newsblaster is pretty efficient when what you want is the top stories from a bunch of sources.

Snow Crystal Photo Collections... ooooh!

Constructor from Sodaplay is strange but compelling. Design in motion. Physics to play with.

We're Back!

Like many of you, we had a provider nuke our blog out of the blue (freedom2surf f2s.com killed our subdomain quietly without a word to us). We moved it in house.
