Functional Structure of the CMMC

Figure 9 shows an overview of the functional structure of the CMMC using the CAR conference control software. The CAR conference control software should be regarded as something of a stopgap measure, pending the output of various working groups, most notably the Conference Control (mmusic) working group of the IETF.

For these reasons, it is a requirement to be possible to replace the CAR conference control software, without requiring significant modification to the underlying layers of the CMMC. It should also be possible to use the higher layer conference control system (in this case CAR) to manage a conference that does not require any other facilities of the CMMC. This leads to a division of functionality between the Conference Server and the Channel Server shown.
